Hello 2017, may you bring us hope & magic.
Today is the beginning of a new year, and for a lot of us that means new goals. After reading Vix's blog post "Does A New Year Need A New You?" and reflecting on a pretty difficult 2016, I've decided that I'm going to set myself some new goals for the year ahead for a healthier, happier me. I'm as guilty as the majority of us for setting New Year's resolutions and forgetting about them after a couple of weeks but this year is going to be different! This year I'll be keeping track of my 2017 goals with you guys so that I don't fall off the New Year's resolution wagon again, and hopefully together we can keep each other motivated,
My 2017 goals:
1. Self Care
My main focus of 2017 is going to be self care. 2016 had been a bit rough in terms of my mental health and personal well-being which meant that I had to miss out on some pretty great events such as YA Shot 2016. However, I've realised that I need to start looking after myself and stop worrying about everyone else all the time. In order to help me ensure that I take time for me, I'm going to be using the Blurt Foundation's #365daysofselfcare over on Twitter and doing a monthly wrap up of self-care.
Organisation is going to play a massive part in 2017 and hopefully keep me on track for achieving my goals. I'm going to begin a bullet journal to help me keep track of important dates, goals, habits, blog posts and my well-being so that I can become a healthier and happier me. I'm also going to re-organise my bedroom and have a massive clear-out so that I'm not constantly stressing myself out over where things are.
3. Book challenges
In 2017 I hope to actually complete some reading challenges because I have quite simply been appalling at completing them in the past. Yes, I'm looking at you failed Goodreads challenges. In the hope that they will keep me motivated and help me achieve my 2017 reading goal, I will be participating in the British Book Challenge 2017 which is hosted by the absolutely lovely Chelley Toy, participating in #SundayYA weekly Twitter chats which are hosted by the gorgeous Rachel and hoping to complete the #DiversityBingo2017 challenge.
A very cliche New Year's resolution, I know. However, it is a goal that I'm going to be taking seriously as I think it will help me with my self-care and hopefully help me on my road to recovery. Plus I want an excuse to use my "lean in 15" books because some of the recipes just look and sound so damn good.
5. Small magics
This is going to be so important in helping me find just one small positive aspect of each day, I'm so used to focusing on the negatives that I sometimes forget to look for that silver lining that gives me hope. To help me with this, I'm going to create a small magics jar and fill it up daily with one magical thing that inspires or motivates me to become a more incredible me.
I wish you all a magical, and great New Year and I'd love for you to share your New Year's resolutions with me so that I can help you stay motivated too.
Sending much love for 2017,
